Client

My client is an overseas investment firm, looking to open up their FCA entity. They are currently recruiting for their Head of Finance to also be their Executive Director to hold the SMF3. Initially they require part time, turning full time once application has been submitted – this part is up for discussion regarding amount of hours required and to be discussed at interview stage.

Main duties:

  • As a senior member of the Executive Committee, the successful candidate will be accountable to the CEO for delivery of the annual operating plan (impact/financial).
  • Plans, directs, and oversees operational policies, rules, initiatives, and goals.
  • Helps execute long-term and short-term plans and directives by implementing judgement, vision, management, and leadership.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the company and adjust as necessary.
  • Support the control and reporting of project initiatives.
  • Measure effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and find ways to improve processes.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of skilled talent.
  • Identify technology and operational risk areas and assist in business planning efforts towards developing the Technology & Operations execution strategy.
  • Collaborate with senior management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and people designed to support the growth objectives of the organisation.
  • Review and maintain the Firm’s ICARA and submit to the Board for annual approval.
  • Prepare and distribute a comprehensive analysis of the company’s financial reporting package (relative to comparable historical periods, budget, and forecast), including qualitative commentary on business trends, on a timely basis and producing financial reports, daily, weekly, monthly results to the Board.
  • Oversee the reconciliations of Clients’ Money and Assets (CASS)
  • Ensure that the Firm’s record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their recommendations and findings.
  • Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all company’s financial affairs, including FCA reporting and managing company policies regarding regulatory capital requirements.
  • Monitor cash balances and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Holds or has held in the past an SMF3 position with an FCA regulated investment firm.
  • Has good understanding of all business functions and infrastructure.
  • Can demonstrate competency in strategic financial planning and business development.
  • Has working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Has working knowledge of constructing and monitoring reliable financial control systems.
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities.
